Art Therapist

General Summary:

Provides art therapy and counseling services to individuals and groups who have been impacted by domestic violence and/or sexual violence.  Focus is predominantly on children with the opportunity to provide services to adults.  Art Therapist provides services at FRIENDS, Inc.’s office space and other community environments such as schools.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Provides trauma-informed care practices into service provision for all clients

  • Answers crisis line, provides referrals, and completes database entry

  • Provides individual and group art therapy

  • Provides family therapy as needed

  • Assesses individual’s needs

  • Assists in safety planning and crisis stabilization

  • Provides community resources as needed

  • Works with other staff to support family needs and safety

  • Develops and maintains progress notes and documentation per agency’s standards and per licensing standards

  • Develops and maintains knowledge base of domestic violence, sexual violence, community resources and contacts

  • Group facilitation as needed or upon request

  • Attends monthly all staff meeting, bi-weekly coordinator meetings, and weekly updates with Associate Director.

  • Supports and attends all FRIENDS special events and functions including internal committees such as Social Media, Case Review, or annual event EWF.

  • Maintain and track program budget; order supplies as needed

  • Represents FRIENDS in a positive manner.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Master’s degree in Art Therapy and prior experience providing art therapy to children individually and in group settings (internship experience acceptable)

  • Appropriate credentialing or credentialing in progress (ATR-P, ATR, ATR-BC, LPC-IT, LPC)

  • Liability Insurance

  • Knowledge of domestic violence and sexual violence dynamics and its impact on children and families, and the trauma-informed service provision framework.

  • Excellent communication skills; cultural competence and the ability to interact with diverse populations.  Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.

  • Strong self-motivation and organizational skills to manage a variety of diversified tasks in a timely manner.

  • Ability to work flexible hours.

  • Maintains a high degree of professionalism with sound judgment.

  • Ability to work well in a team or independent environment.

  • Working knowledge of all Microsoft Office products. 

  • Valid driver’s license.

 

Working Conditions:

  • Normal office environment.

  • Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 30 pounds.

  • Employee to provide Certificate of Liability insurance to employer each calendar year.

Salary:

$43,000 - $45,000
